Therapeutic Paws of Canada is a volunteer-based pet therapy dog and cat visitation program.  Our Volunteers and their pets visit with members of their communities in schools, hospitals or senior’s residences.

To inquire about bringing a TPOC program to a facility in your community your first point of contact would be your local Team Leader.

Some information to get you started:
TPOC provides programs to hospitals, seniors residences, nursing homes, schools , libraries, colleges & universities. If you represent an organization or facility that would benefit from the presence of therapy dogs, please feel free to contact us – we will do our best to help.

We do not train dogs or people but we do evaluate our prospective teams to ensure their ability to do well in therapy work . Our handlers are all carefully screened volunteers who work with their own family pet to provide therapy visits.

Unfortunately due to liability issues and to safeguard our volunteers we are not able to provide visits in private homes.

There is NO fee for any of our programs .

Making Life Better

Our dedicated volunteers help make life better for seniors with regular pet visits.

The medical establishment recognizes the benefits of therapy dog and cat programs. Connections with pets helps to calm agitated residents and stimulates wonderful conversations.

Recovery from surgery is accelerated when there is continued contact with a pet. The positive impact of our program on the day-to-day life of seniors in our community cannot be calculated.
